Hello. I’m JenRuth of JenRuth Design Studio. I am a Website and Brand Designer. I am passionate about designing visually impactful and strategic digital spaces. I really love supporting the online success of small business owners, entrepreneurs, and professional creatives with their branding and websites.

My creative journey began in the world of fine art, where I earned my BFA in Fine Art from Cleveland Institute of Art and my MFA in Fine Art from the School of Visual Arts, developing strong visual art and design skills. Besides my passion for designing websites and brands, I creatively enjoy exploring visual art drawing and painting, surface pattern design, textile art, sewing, and photography.

My past experiences include working in art galleries gaining the perspective of what goes into curating artwork, working with other artists including their portfolios and press, and planning art exhibitions. I also run a small handmade art and craft business with another artist which has helped me gain valuable experience into the business side of creativity. This includes designing, setting up, and running an ecommerce Shopify store. From my extensive art and design background, I especially love working with professional creatives to help them grow their presence online and their creative businesses.

I am also passionate about collaborating with small businesses and entrepreneurs so they can grow and achieve success with their website and digital spaces online. I love supporting them as well in sharing their vision and message with others by designing a brand that reflects their business authentically and impactfully.

I worked for many years in the world of photography curating and editing photographers work for a variety of large advertising campaigns and for online and print publications in the United States and Europe. My trained artistic and design background, combined with photography and advertising, gives me a distinct perspective on branding and visual communication.

I discovered web design while designing my own WordPress website for my art. Through this I found my passion for web design and development.

As a web designer, I have further expanded my skill set with a certificate in a UX/UI Design connecting my highly trained visual art and design background with a deeper understanding of how to prioritize user experience in digital spaces including websites. This allows me to design websites that are visually appealing but also very easy and enjoyable for users to interact with and navigate.

I also have a certificate in Front End Web Development which gives me more technical understanding of what goes into creating a website with front end coding. This also has given me the proficiency to add my technical skills like Custom CSS to any web design.

Beyond design, I am also a web consultant. I love learning about website creation and online computer technologies staying up to date with the everchanging digital world. I am happy to offer you support to ease the overwhelm that can come with navigating all the tech. I can design and support you with WordPress, Squarespace, and Shopify websites.

I also enjoy partnering with small businesses, entrepreneurs, and professional creatives offering ongoing website and design support after your website is launched.
